The British High commissioner said they have dealt with the unprecedented surge in demand for student visas of 89% up on last year. "The combination of an unprecedented surge in demand for travel from India to the UK combined with the effects of COVID-19 and the Russian invasion of Ukraine meant that our visa processing got well outside of a 15-day working standard," commented the commissioner.
The British commissioner informed the public that they are processing skilled worker visas faster. The main focus is to improve visitor visa processing time. Ellis added that the good news is we are now getting back on track.
The effective processing is a collective effort of their teams in Delhi, the UK, and worldwide. The offices now have good availability in visa application centres. He also advised the applicants to provide the information as requested. He urged people to help by applying at least three months in advance using different services, including the priority visa service and super priority visa service. "Make sure you provide the information requested, not just the information which you want to give. And together, I think we can get to the 15-day work service standard by the end of this year. That's my aim. So, good news, we are on track, and I think we can get well on track over the next few weeks," added the British High Commissioner.
The commissioner added in terms of what to do in cases of urgency. "In cases of urgency, provide the information requested and not just information which you want to give," he said.
