We have an amazing update for those who want to study abroad, especially in US universities.

From now on, US varsities can validate TOFEL scores through their Indian study-abroad partners, according to the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

TOFEL is a standardised exam that checks the ability of English proficiency of non-native English speakers who want to pursue their studies in US universities. Princeton-based ETS, which conducts exams such as the GRE and TOEFL, has partnered with Career Mosaic, a leading student recruiter for US universities in South Asia, to verify scores.

According to official authorities, US universities will have credentials to validate scores starting this week, which can significantly enhance the credibility of students' profiles. This move will reduce the burden on US universities and ensure a smooth and efficient student enrollment process.

The TOEFL scores are acceptable in more than 12,000 universities in over 160 countries, and they are globally accepted at famous destinations like Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Australia, and 98% of UK universities.

Sachin Jain, the country manager for ETS India and South Asia, expressed enthusiasm about our collaboration with Career Mosaic to authenticate TOEFL scores for US university applicants. This partnership aims to bolster universities' confidence in the submitted scores, highlighting both organisations' shared dedication to offering dependable and streamlined solutions for assessing potential students' English language proficiency.

The ETS has made various changes in the 60-year-old test to create the most desirable experience for the students taking this exam by reducing the duration from three hours to two hours and allowing the students to have a look at their official score after the completion of the test.

Manisha Zaveri, joint managing director at Career Mosaic, said that the TOEFL score authentication services offered by ETS in India could Significantly enhance the chance of sharing the students' profiles with US universities. This partnership will boost the integrity of the TOEFL scores. It will be beneficial for both universities and the increasing number of Indian students who are seeking higher education opportunities in the US.

“Verifying TOEFL scores will help to narrow down the admission process for US universities, which will eventually accelerate students' onboarding”, said Blerina Polovina, director of international admissions and business development at Webster University USA.

Further, Polovina added that “ through validating scores, universities can save the efforts of English language proficiency score authentication, eventually developing a more reliable and smooth admission process for both students and Universities.

Indian students contribute over 12% of the total global TOEFL test takers. According to the EST statistics, the number of students taking the TOEFL exam in India has increased to 59 per cent since international travel resumed after the COVID-19 pandemic lapse.
