Research for the University and Courses - You must first research your options to learn how to study in Germany. Courses offered by the universities in Germany may be different from those provided by your home country. Many top-ranking universities in Germany may offer your preferred course. Therefore, it is essential to research and find out which university and course suit you best.

Check Admission Criteria - German universities have independent policies, i.e., each university may have slightly different admission criteria. Indian students preparing for undergraduate courses must pass the Feststellungsprüfung if they fail to have 13 years of education from class 1 to class 12. It is an assessment test after the preparatory course - Studienkolleg.

Apply for the Required Test - Some universities may require an assessment test. For a master’s in Germany, the GRE and GMAT are required. This is ideally the time to appear for these tests and the language proficiency exams like IELTS and TOEFL needed to study in Germany.

Plan for Finance - Start with financial planning for your study abroad journey. There are various costs associated with studying in Germany. To get a student visa, Indian students need to prove their financial capacity to manage the cost of living in Germany and the tuition fees for their chosen course. Although the living costs depend on the city you choose to study in, Germany's education is accessible or highly affordable.

Apply for the Universities - Indian students should apply to universities for summer intake in Germany well in advance. It is recommended that candidates apply at least 6 weeks before the deadline. The general deadline for summer intake applications in Germany is mid-January, but individual universities may have slightly different deadlines.

Submit All Required Documents - All the relevant documents and test scores should be attached to the application. As a new guideline, an APS (Academic Evaluation Centre) certificate is mandatory for a German student visa starting November 1.

Apply for a Student Visa - The country releases a student visa for students who wish to study in Germany. After hearing back from the university, starting the German student visa application process is time. The German student visa process is straightforward. If you have received an acceptance letter from a German university, you can apply for a student visa (Visum Zu Studienzwecken). If you do not have the acceptance letter, you can apply for a student applicant visa (Visum Zur Studienbewerbung). Students must open a mandatory Block account of 11200 Euros in any German Bank.

Received Your Offer Letter - By February, Indian students had received their university acceptance letters for summer intake in Germany and started enrollment. This involved paying the relevant charges and submitting the required documents.

Make Arrangements to Go to Germany - Once you enrol in the summer intake course in Germany, you will receive a university student ID and a registration certificate. The obvious next step is making the necessary arrangements to live there.
