Funds Required to Apply for a Student Visa in Italy

Italy is one of the most popular destinations for international students planning to pursue their higher education abroad. Buzzing cities, historical culture, and multicultural ambience make Italy an attractive place to study abroad with an amazing experience. It is home to some of the world’s oldest universities, offering an excellent teaching curriculum. Generally, Italian universities offer only one intake to international students, i.e., in September. Before moving to Italy, international students must show the funds to the embassy to justify that they have enough amount to bear their expenses while studying in Italy.  

Many students get confused about the funds they need to show while applying for an Italian student visa. Students applying for the Master’s program must show a bank balance of 12,00,000–14,00,000 INR in their sponsor’s account. Whereas the students applying for bachelor’s courses must show a bank balance of 18,00,000 INR and above. Generally, the embassy asks for 6 months old bank statement of the sponsor’s account to assess if the sponsor can afford the student’s education in Italy and if their source of funds is genuine.
