One of the most essential parts of the IELTS exam is the speaking section, which evaluates candidates' English language skills. It is broken into three sections, each assessing the candidate's English communication skills. In part 1, the candidate is asked generic questions about their background, interests, and self. In part 2, each candidate is handed a cue card containing a topic to discuss for up to two minutes. The candidate is asked to answer additional questions about the subject covered in Part 2 in Part 3.
In this blog, we have included sample replies and follow-up questions on a frequently asked cue card topic, "Describe a family photograph you remember," to offer you insight into the cue card section of the IELTS speaking test. So, let us start!

Most families take photos to build memories that will last a lifetime. Here, I’d like to talk about a special family photograph that has many memories attached to it.
It was taken a few years ago during a family trip to Kedarnath, a famous temple in the Himalayas.
In the picture, my parents, my younger sister, and I are standing outside the Kedarnath temple, smiling broadly. The background showed the aesthetic snow-capped mountains and the ancient temple structure. This photograph captured a moment of happiness and togetherness.
This picture reminds me of our adventurous journey to the temple. We trekked for hours through the mountains to reach Kedarnath, which was challenging but incredibly amazing. The weather was clear that day, and the temple looked stunning against the backdrop of the Himalayan peaks.
I remember this family photograph so vividly because it reminds me of the joy of being together in such a breathtaking location. It was a rare moment when all of us were genuinely happy and at peace, surrounded by natural beauty and our spiritual vibe.
