Backlogs - Candidate Processing updates
As we all know, IRCC is facing a lot of backlogs in processing visa files for candidates. To overcome this challenge, Sean Frazer (IRCC Minister) said they had hired 1200-1500 employees so as to clear the backlogs. As a result of this, we have seen a significant decline in the remaining backlogs in Canada. Earlier, there were approximately 26,00,000 backlogs for the September 2022 intake because of which the time for visa processing was approximately 4-5 months. But, this number was decreased to 24,00,000 in November 2022, which later declined to approximately 22,43,000 in December 2022. The IRCC is continuously trying to reduce the visa backlogs. However, the current waiting time for the SDS visa category is approximately 2-4 weeks.
Moreover, the total pending files for Permanent Residency is approximately 5,21,000, and for temporary residence, the remaining backlogs account for around 13,29,000, while only 3 lakh files are pending for citizenship. Therefore, we recommend our fellow students to start with their application process as soon as possible to avoid delaying of the visa processing and so as to ensure your journey goes as per your plans for your future.
