Hello friends,
Today we will talk about those who want to get into a teaching job in UK and get a work permit as a teacher or any other academic instructor, how can they do so?
How to do become a teacher in UK?
When you go to UK under education VISA-if you want to be a teacher there, however, you don’t have a strong education background, neither you have good technical skills, then there is a very good course for you, known as the PGCE or Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
About the course:
The duration of PGCE is 1 year and once you complete the course, you become eligible to apply as a teacher in any primary or secondary school in UK.
This PGCE has 7-8 different courses to choose from and this also depends upon which field or subject you choose. This can be related to Geography, Science, Mathematics, and so on.
Types of PGCEs:
In terms of PGCE, there are three primary categories:
- You'll learn everything you need to know about teaching elementary school students from kindergarten through sixth grade in this program. It's possible to specialize in a specific age range. There is a lot of competition for spaces in this PGCE because it is the most sought-after.
- To teach secondary school and sixth-form students, you must complete a PGCE Secondary. You'll be responsible for instructing students in the subject matter you're an expert in.
- Teaching in colleges or adult education programs is possible with the PGCE Further/Adult Education. In the event that you decide to teach children in the future, you'll have to requalify for QTS.
Another benefit of a PGCE is that many of the programs count toward a Master's degree. As a new teacher, you may want to consider taking advantage of the many part-time continuing education opportunities available via your university.
Employment in UK:
Currently, the PGCE course has an employment rate of 96% in UK (for those who have completed it successfully). Moreover, you get a 2-year PSW after successful completion of this course.
Eligibility criteria for this course:
To be eligible for this course, an applicant needs to have 55% marks minimum in their bachelors program. Moreover, if you have appeared for an IELTS, PTE, then that’s good, or else, you need to have an IELTS score of 6.5 or 65% minimum in 12th in English.
If you these scores, then you can directly become eligible for admission in PGCE without the need to appear for IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE.
The other benefit of this course is that you don’t need to approve your teacher status through QTS or Quality Teacher Status once you've completed it.
You can directly apply for skilled VISA for this course as it comes under the skilled VISA category. However, for that, you’d need to have the offer letter or job sponsorship letter from any organization in UK. When you have that, only then you can apply for work VISA and you get a VISA for 5 years directly.
Hopefully, this information has been helpful.
Thank you.
