The exam is the most popular and widely accepted proof of English language proficiency. Universities abroad require decent scores on the exam to be accepted for admission. A good score bolsters the students’ application.

Registration for the exam can be done online or offline. The exam is administered in over 140 countries at over 16,00 locations.
There are no particular eligibility criteria to apply for the test, and it is open to all.

The exams are in two modes, i.e. pen-paper IELTS and computer-based IELTS. 48 days per year have been allocated for the IELTS exam by the British Council IELTS Global Schedule. You can choose the date from the available ones. It is advised that you choose the date three to four months before the application deadline of the university or college you are applying to.
Computer-based IELTS is available 7 days a week and 3 times a day. This gives students the time to register for the exam. There is no difference between computer-based and pen-paper IELTS. One is conducted virtually, and another is on paper.
Also, the result of the computer-based IELTS exam comes within 4-7 days after the exam is conducted. At the same time, the results of the pen-paper exam come after 13 days from the exam date.
