Overview

In the UK, January/ February and September/ October are the primary intakes. For a few programs, certain universities in the United Kingdom offer an April/May intake.

January Intake

January intake is the secondary intake. Not as many courses are offered in January intake compared to September intake, but this intake gives an opportunity to the students who have missed the admission in the main intake. It allows students to give more attention to their applications. The application dates will vary by course & University and will fall between June and September.

September Intake

September is The major intake in the UK. In the United Kingdom, it is also known as autumn intake. In the UK, most universities offer all of the programs in the September intake. The application deadlines for the September intake will be between the months of February and May of the following academic year. May Intake

There is a limited number of seats available for the May university intake in the United Kingdom. However, some courses are available in the May intake as well.
International students can start a few courses in May at universities such as Coventry University, Northumbria University, Southampton Solent University, University of Bedfordshire, and others.

Important UCAS Deadlines

All Undergraduate course applications are overseen by UK-based Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). The UCAS deadlines for the UK intakes of 2021 and 2022 are listed below, however, these are the essential dates to remember when contacting your preferred university.

It is for all Cambridge and Oxford programs, as well as most medicine, dentistry, and veterinary medicine courses at all other universities, on October 15, 2021.

It is for all other undergraduate programs for EU students on January 15, 2022.

It is for all other undergraduate courses for international students through June 30, 2022.

After specific deadlines, several UK universities will accept international applications. If you are late, check with your university.

6 Steps to a September Intake in the United Kingdom in 2022

If you intend to study in the United Kingdom as an undergraduate or postgraduate student, the first thing you'll need is a strategy. Here's a sample application timeline to help you figure out what to do and when to do it!!!

 

Step 1 - Start Now..!!

Start early and by August, waitlist 8-12 colleges that you will apply to. Visit university websites and note application requirements, due dates etc.
By September, you should be familiar with the bank loans and scholarship alternatives for funding your studies.
To begin, go to the university's website and download the admissions brochures. Most brochures are out over a year sooner.
Do some initial research on different accommodation options

 

Step 2 - Crack the exams: 

Get ready for required standardized tests like GMAT, GRE, SAT, TOEFL or IELTS – depending upon the course and college.
Enroll for the GMAT/ GRE by June-July, or three months before the test date.
You must register for the TOEFL/IELTS at least one month before the exam date.
Take the relevant tests in September, and leave enough time in case you need to retake them.

 

Step 3 - Its application time

Shortlist the universities and prepare for your application. Consider what makes you stand out as an applicant and write down your strengths and self-evaluation.
For the requisite 2-3 reference letters, contact your lecturers and direct managers At least a month before your application's deadline.
Begin composing your SOP and essays. Give yourself a month to properly arrange these documents.
Apply before the due date! UK September intake 2022 deadline will be around in the months of  February to May.

 

Step 4 - What next:

Don’t delay replying to college e-mails. Also, there will be quite a few!
Appear for personal/video interviews. These are planned for around January to March.
Make your decision as soon as you receive your admission letters.
Inform the universities of your decision as soon as possible, depending on the deadline.

Step 5 - Visa and money matters:

Start looking for external scholarships and applying for them (if relevant).

6 Steps to a Successful January Intake in the United Kingdom in 2022

The step-by-step approach for UK institutions with January intake for postgraduate and undergraduate courses is outlined here.

Step 1 - Start Now: 

The first step in studying in the United Kingdom for the January 2022 intake is to select a course and begin shortlisting universities that best fit your needs.
Everyone's decision-making process is unique, and it will range from person to person depending on your academic background and future plans. Investigate the courses you want to take as well as the courses and colleges to which you are eligible.
The best way to start is to go through the official websites of the Universities in the UK and see the course details, have it thoroughly researched before you opt for shortlisting.
To fund your studies, become familiar with a bank loans and scholarship possibilities.
Remember to check the January intake and application deadlines for the course you're interested in.

 

Step 2 - Appear for the Exams: 

The admission tests will be the most significant eligibility requirements for the courses and universities you choose.
General aptitude tests, such as the GRE and GMAT, will be required for admission to institutions in the United Kingdom. Prepare and attempt it.
Language proficiency assessments, such as the IELTS and TOEFL, are also important.
Keep in mind that these tests will take some time to prepare, and the results will not be available for many weeks.

Step 3 - Start Applying to Colleges:

A month prior to the deadline, start the documentation cycle for all the administrative work that is required. 
Prepare your SOP/Application Essay. You will write a Statement of Purpose outlining your academic background and why you have selected this university.
You should also begin contacting instructors and bosses to request that they write letters of recommendation for you in the event that they are required.
Apply to the universities in the UK prior to the Deadline. The deadline for UK university January intake 2022 will be in the months of June to September

 

Step 4 -Acceptance Letters and Interviews: 

You will receive an email from the University if there is any progress with your application. If you are interested in attending the course, you must respond with a confirmation.
If you intend to take the course, please notify the university as soon as possible by sending a confirmation email. Do not wait for the deadlines to revert.
It's also possible that you'll be requested to pay a non-refundable confirmation fee.

 

Step 5 - Apply for Visa / Education Loan: 

As soon as you receive the university's acceptance letter, you should begin the application procedure for student loans and a UK student visa. You should apply for a student visa to study in the United Kingdom at least three months before the January intake begins. The Visa and Loan applications processes are both time-consuming and important.
You can also apply for study abroad scholarships if you want to. During the visa application process, you will be needed to present proof of financial resources, including any scholarships or awards should be declared then, while applying.

 

Step 6 - Tickets and Departure: 

You're only a few steps away from starting your studies in the United Kingdom. Before you book your flights, double-check that you have all of the necessary documentation.
The next step is to find a place to stay. If you do not wish to reside on the University's campus, you will be responsible for finding student housing on your own. Start this process a month before your arrival.
