Information Regarding Travelling Requirements from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to Italy

Overview

All the Countries including Brazil, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka: travellers from these Countries is allowed exclusively for work, study, health or other extreme essential reasons or to return to one’s home or place of residence. Travellers who travel through or stayed in Brazil, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the period of prior 14 days of starting their journey will be allowed entry into Italy exclusively for study, work, health or other extreme essential reasons and to Italian /Schengen citizens and their family members, as well as holders of long-term resident status and unmarried partners, live in a proven stable relationship with Schengen, Italian, and EU citizens, if travelling to their partner's place of residence in Italy and also to all the athlete's persons participatingsports activities /competitions of national interest and their accompanying personnel.

 

Persons travelling to Italy from Brazil, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, shall be required to have and compile the digital passenger locator form (PLF), present a negative antigen swab test taken within the latest 72 hours before entering into Italy and also a self-isolation under medical supervision for next 10 days, after the self- Isolation period which they required to repeat the molecular or antigen test. Persons detected with the active symptoms of COVID-19 will be required to inform immediately to the concerned health authority and self-isolate while awaiting the competent authorities’ decisions.

Exceptions to the Self-isolation Requirement

The individuals travelling to Italy do not face any COVID-19 symptoms, and subject – in any case – to present a passenger locator form (PLF) and, have a negative antigen or molecular swab test, then10 days self-isolation period under medical supervision requirement shall not apply to: 

  • Any Individuals travelling Italy for any work-related reasons regulated by some specific security protocols authorized by the approved health authorities; 

  • Any Individuals entering in Italy for reasons that cannot be further postponed, subject to prior authorization and approval were given by the Ministry of Health; 

  • Residents and Citizens of any Member State of the European Union who fall under the conditions A, B entering Italy for proven work reasons; 

  • Health personnel involves in a healthcare profession entering Italy to practice any healthcare-related activity; 

  • Employees of entities or corporations with headquarters or branch offices situated in Italy and travelling abroad for proven work reasons for no longer than 120 hours; 

  • servants  and other officials, however, designated, in the European Union or international organisations, agents, diplomatic, technical and administrative staff related to any diplomatic missions, military personnel and personnel, consular officials, including any individual returning from international missions, and personnel of Italian State intelligence and security agencies, members of law enforcement agencies, and fire-fighting personnel on duty; 

  • All the students going to or currently attending a study programme in a country other than the Country of residence or home Country; 

  • Persons entering Italy to take part in any competitions of national interest related to sports activities, in accordance with 49, paragraph 5, of DPCM of 2 March 2021.

 

EXCEPTIONS TO THESELF-ISOLATION REQUIREMENTS AND SWAB TESTING 

Provided that all the individuals travelling to Italy do not have any COVID-19 symptoms, and subject – in any case –
=> to present a passenger locator form (PLF) unless otherwise provided, a negative molecular or antigen swab testing before entering in Italy and self-isolation requirements shall not be required for: 

  • Crew members of transport facilities i.e. Flights etc.

  • Haulage workers; 

  • Persons travelling from and to the Countries and territories of Vatican City and Republic of San Marino;

  • cross-border workers returning to their home or place of residence and leaving or entering the Country for proven work reasons.

  • All the students going to or currently attending a study programme in a country other than the Country of residence or home Country;

  • People going through Italy, by utilizing any private vehicle, for a period ought to be close to a day and a half, subject to the commitment to leave the nation after the finish of the connected period quickly, or on the other hand, if unfit to do as such, to begin a time of self-disengagement at the location determined in the PLF, for a time of 5 days, after which they will be needed to take and present an atomic or antigen swab test.

  • People visiting Italy for a period not surpassing 120 for demonstrated wellbeing, work, or significant reason, subject to the commitment to leave the nation in the wake of finishing the said period promptly, or then again, if incapable to do as such, to begin a directed self-confinement at the location determined in the PLF, for a time of next five days, after which they will be needed to introduce a sub-atomic or antigen swab test.

  •  Individuals entering Italy after a stay up to48 hours from a foreign destination at a distance, not more than 60 km, from the place of domicile or dwelling, residence, mentioned that they are travelling through the private vehicle. In this case, it shall not be necessary to present a digital passenger locator form (PLF); 

  • Individuals staying for 48 hours not more than that in any location in Italy under the distance of no more than 60 km from the place of domicile or dwelling, residence, mentioned that they are travelling through the private vehicle. Then under this condition, it shall not be necessary to present a digital passenger locator form (PLF).

 

Persons coming from India, Sri Lanka, or Bangladesh are allowed to enter Italy provided that they: 

  • Present a digital passenger locator form (PLF); 

  • Present to the carrier onboarding, and related other control authority, a negative molecular or antigen swab test result taken in the latest 72 hours before entering in the Country; 

  • Present a molecular or antigen swab test on arrival at the port or border crossing, airport; in the case of a molecular swab test, the individual shall self-isolate till the result of the test is available; 

  • Mentioned a 10-day self-isolation period at the address indicated in the passenger locator form PLF; 

  • Present another molecular or antigen swab test at the end of the self-isolation period for 10 days.
