What is the Full Form of CSS?

CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets. Browsers enable CSS to differentiate the content of the document from the report's presentation. CSS describes how to display HTML components on a screen. It is an effective tool for web designers to modify the layout and style of web pages to show how they should be seen.

Brief History of CSS

  • In 1996, the World Wide Web Consortium developed CSS.

  • A single web page may have multiple style sheets added to it thanks to CSS cascading.

  • ".css" is the extension used to save CSS files.

CSS Framework

Pre-defined libraries are CSS frameworks which include

  • Cascade Framework

  • Bootstrap.

  • Blueprint

  • Foundation

Features of CSS

  • A global style sheet in CSS can be used to help users make style adjustments easily and with reduced space consumption.

  • A single external style sheet can be created and applied to multiple website designs.

  • A single line of code can be changed to link a web page to an alternate style sheet.

Benefits of CSS

  • It lets you explain a design for every HTML feature. You can use a style on as many web pages as you'd like.

  • Maintaining consistency across several documents and effortlessly customising their formatting are both achievable.

  • It allows formatting to be shared across multiple pages, lowering the amount of data transferred and speeding up page loading.

  • It offers detachment from the internet and is compatible with new browsers.

  • Compared to HTML, it offers greater features for representation. It gives you more control over how your HTML files look than merely utilising the presentational elements and attributes of HTML.
