The IELTS Speaking exam evaluates how well you speak in English with a certified examiner. It is an interactive section and is based on a real-life situation. The IELTS general and academic modules are the same in the speaking section.
You must showcase your skills in IELTS Speaking by conveying your thoughts, describing experiences, setting up ideas clearly, representing viewpoints, and conducting a thorough analysis. In this section, the examiner will first ask you to introduce yourself, speak on a given cue card topic, and answer further questions related to the topic.
You must also practise responding to the cue card topic. So, let’s take a look at a few sample answers - Describe someone you know who has recently moved to a new place. Head over to the samples below.

People relocate for various reasons, like professional growth, educational opportunities, and the desire to experience a different lifestyle.
My friend Avinash recently moved to Bangalore to pursue a career in web development (IT). Avinash is a hardworking and ambitious individual who always seeks new opportunities to grow and learn.
Bangalore is a popular city known for its thriving IT sector. Because of the numerous technology companies that call it home, it is commonly called India's Silicon Valley.
The city is full of opportunities for people like Avinash, who is my close friend, as he wants to make a name for himself in the tech industry.
Avinash was thrilled about moving to this city. The city's tech scene impressed him, and he believed it would be the ideal environment to advance his career.
Avinash has studied HTML, CSS, and Javascript for five years in Jaipur. After studying web development all day and night, he felt confident that he could thrive in Bangalore.
Avinash's move has had a positive impact on me. I'm glad to see him following his dreams and taking control of his future. It is inspiring to see someone I care about making bold decisions and taking risks to achieve their goals.
Even though we live in different cities, we stay in touch and support each other as we pursue our dreams. Since Avinash moved, I've been thinking about my life and career. His big step has caused me to reflect on my own ambitions.
All in all, it reminded me that sometimes you have to take risks and make bold decisions in order to achieve your goals.

There are many people who move to new offices to change their environment or to grow their professional careers.
Well, a close friend of mine moved to a new office in the Bani Park area of Jaipur. Her name is Pallavi, and she is a young professional who works as a video editor at a well-known design firm.
She's an ambivert who can adapt swiftly to new environments. Initially, she felt a bit out of place sitting alone in her new office, but she quickly found her comfort zone with colleagues and seniors. The office's welcoming and flexible atmosphere suits her personality well.
She sought better growth opportunities and work-life balance. Her previous organisation underpaid her and burdened her with excessive responsibilities, resulting in a highly hectic work environment.
She did something important for her mental and physical well-being. Seeing how she takes care of herself inspires me to focus on my own mental health and ensure work-life balance without worrying too much.
Last but not the least, she is great at taking good care of herself and I feel that if one is not happy with the workplace, there is no harm in making a change.

Moving to a new place for employment or education is quite common these days. People migrate when they are looking for better opportunities for career growth.
My sister Surya went through a tough time growing up without a father who passed away in an accident. She worked hard, studied nursing, and now she's moved to Dubai for a great job opportunity.
Dubai is a city known for its tall, modern buildings like the Burj Khalifa and fancy hotels like the Burj Al Arab. The city is surrounded by vast deserts where you can enjoy exciting activities like riding over sand dunes in a vehicle or on a camel. Dubai is a mix of luxury and fun adventures, making it a popular place to visit.
Surya completed her higher studies, earning a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Hyderabad with the help of an education loan. She continued working in the nursing field there. After a year, she received a job offer from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, and she moved there to continue her nursing career.
Being an Indian girl from a middle-class family, she earned a lot of respect from our family. In one way or the other, she is a girl who inspires everyone to do better in their career. Personally, she motivated me to pursue my dreams confidently and in my own unique way.
Finally, everyone has seen her struggles and her courage to achieve her dreams. It's also a powerful inspiration for my personal growth.
