What was it?

One of the most memorable occasions in a person's life is their birthday. Each person celebrates it according to their plans. While some people have extravagant parties and invite their friends, neighbours and family members, others just ask their own family. I chose to host an elderly orphanage celebration for my nephew's birthday.

When did you make it?

I made this decision a month before his birthday. One day, I visited the old age home with my friends to donate money. We met so many older adults who were all abandoned by their children. They felt terrible about their children, which made us feel low. On that day, they heartfeltly blessed us with their happy tears. So, I decided to celebrate his birthday there so that he would get all their blessings.

What was the result?

My family members also approved of this choice. They began to prepare everything for that day. We decided to give them clothing and food. My mother and sister opted to cook independently, so we cooked in that house and supplied the food while ordering clothes from a store.

Explain how you felt about it.

After the festivities ended that evening, the older adults held my nephew and gave him their sincere blessings. Everyone in my family was delighted to hear those blessings. My family is all proud of me for the choice I made. It made everyone happy.

Conclusion

Since so many children and older adults live without their parents and children, it is preferable to celebrate our special days in such orphanages or children's orphanages.

Introduction

These days, a  majority of individuals deal with body shaming because of their size, shape, colour, etc. My family and acquaintances also subjected me to a great deal of body shaming since I was overweight. So, I will now discuss the choice I made to lose weight and the actions I have taken.

What was it?

A couple of months ago, I looked so bulky. I have faced lots of body shaming, even my family body shamed me. It hurt me a lot, so I decided to exercise with the help of a personal trainer. I also asked for suggestions from my friends and they introduced me to Mr.Ramesh, a gym trainer. Afterwards, he used to come to my home to train me.

When did you make it?

My uncle made fun of my body type in front of my relatives when I attended one of their gatherings. Since then, I haven't participated in any events in a few days since it deeply affected me. Mr. Ramesh gave me excellent training and I picked up a few new exercises.

What was the result?

As a result, I dropped seven kilograms in three months. I was content with the weight loss process and felt confident. I now go to all of my family's events. My uncle used to make fun of me but he no longer does such things after the weight loss. Also, I felt free to dress however I choose.

Explain how you felt about it.

I felt so much better. I used to be self-conscious about competing in anything or going out in public or at society events, but I am comfortable doing so now. I now adore how I look and enjoy dressing however I please.

Conclusion

Through the body-shaping process, we can become mentally and physically fit, which not only boosts our confidence level but also helps us live longer and healthier.

Introduction

Sometimes, we make snap decisions that could change our lives. I've decided what I will do if I win the award. I chose to do this, as I will explain below, I decided to do it with the prize money.

What was it?

A month ago, I participated in a marathon and won INR 50,000. I've donated half of that money to a children's orphanage close to my home. I intended to use the funds to cover food and clothing costs for the numerous children who lacked parental support.

When did you make it?

I participated in the cancer awareness marathon that my institution's Rotary Club members organised. The winner received Rs 75,000, but I was awarded Rs 50,000 instead since I finished second.

What was the result?

As per my decision, I have donated half of my winnings to the nearby orphanage. Every time we visited, we gave those kids food and spent time with them. The orphanage personnel were thrilled with the donation. They bought some groceries with that money and met the children's needs.

Explain how you felt about it.

I was happier seeing the joy on those kids' faces than when I received the reward. My friends and neighbours all thought highly of me and agreed with my choice. It is among my most treasured recollections.

Conclusion

It is important to help children and older people in need whenever possible. Overall, doing social work is always rewarding and fulfilling.

IELTS Speaking Cue Card - Follow-up questions

Question- Do you select the right individuals for a particular problem or issue?

Answer- It can be tough to choose someone to help with problem-solving because their outlook and solutions might not align with our thought process or perspective. However, there are always some people in your life you can rely on to give the right advice.

Question- Why do individuals come to decisions?

Answer- They help prevent confusion and we save valuable time. For instance, a working woman may need clarification about what to eat for breakfast and lunch the next day if she still needs to decide on a meal plan. She will save time if she decides against it in advance, allowing her to finish her duties promptly the following morning.

Question- What decisions do people make every day?

Answer- People have many things to decide daily: what to wear, what to eat, what to do next and even small things to choose from. Based on their work, some have to make a big decision about their work or something else.

Question- Do you constantly seek advice before making a decision?

Answer- Absolutely, without a doubt. I always turn to intelligent, experienced individuals who have stood by me through good times. These people can be of great assistance to me.

Question- Do you think teenagers can make decisions on their own?

Answer- When it comes to making significant life decisions, teenagers cannot make such decisions themselves as they are not mature and experienced enough. However, they can make choices independently because they can access technology and plenty of other resources.
