The speaking section is an easy 11-14-minute exam. Firstly, the examiner builds rapport and provides the cue card topic to the student for preparation. The second step is speaking on the given topic, and then, lastly, the examiner asks some follow-up questions related to the topic.

However, many students get confused when answering cue card topics. Therefore, to help you better understand how to answer the cue card fluently, the blog has some sample answers and follow-up questions on one of the most commonly asked topics: “Describe a prize that you received.” Let’s begin without any more delays!

IELTS Speaking Part 3- Follow-up questions

Question - What are the different kinds of prizes students get?

Answer - Students who excel academically or participate in athletics typically get rewards. The majority of the awards are in the form of presents, sports kits, trophies, certificates, etc. These days, kids are participating in online contests and winning monetary rewards.

Question - Why should people be rewarded?

Answer - People require motivation to carry out their regular activities. The rewards will serve as a springboard, improving your performance. This will serve as a catalyst for high levels of production among the populace.

Question - Should students get the same prize in sports and academics?

Answer - Both academics and athletics are vital for students, in my opinion. They have to be able to function in both areas with equal balance. Since the students are working hard in both fields to complete the assignment, the incentives for their accomplishments should be equal.

Question- Are awards always good for the winners?

Answer - Indeed, the prizes help the recipients stay motivated to set new marks. Nevertheless, if they often receive prizes, they could become less motivated and more self-assured. As a result, the prizes might be viewed as stepping stones.

Answer - Yes, there ought to be healthy rivalry among the pupils in the classroom, and the top performers ought to get rewards. Although there are certain setbacks, like hindrances in daily work, competitions can lead to a competitive environment where not all students can cope, and much more.
