Where did you go?

My family, including my mother, father, sister, and me, planned a trip to Kolkata, where my maternal grandparents live. We planned this trip to surprise them for their 50th wedding anniversary. My uncle, aunt, and cousins were already planning a grand event for their 50th anniversary, so it was the perfect opportunity for us.

What did you do at that place?

After reaching Kolkata and surprising our grandparents, we enjoyed all the good times and spent time with all the family. For five days, the environment was like a proper Indian wedding, and everyone enjoyed their stay and time over there immensely.

Who did you go there with

My mother, father, sister, and I were on the car journey. All four of us were habitual to long car journeys. The journey was filled with fun, good food, different cuisines, singing, music, and much more.

Why did you go on that journey by car?

We went on this car journey because we wanted to surprise our grandparents. It was one of the things he had to complete on my father's bucket list. He has always believed that the best journey can be made by car, as it gives us freedom to plan the journey at our convenience.

Conclusion

To conclude, this was one of my most memorable car journeys. I had an amazing time with my family, and most importantly, we did two things: first, we checked the tick box for my father, and second, we gave a pleasant surprise to my grandparents.

Describe a long car journey you went on or a long car journey you remember well cue card- sample answer 2

Introduction

Travelling is a hobby that not everyone embraces, but the people who travel a lot are very enthusiastic about it. Travelling does not necessarily mean going on long trips which need to be planned; it can also be a long car journey with your friends. It can be a planned trip to the hills or the beach; the possibilities are endless. Today, I will discuss one such trip I made with my friends.

Where did you go?

When I was in college, two holy places surrounded the city, approximately 100- 150 kilometres away. One day, four of our friends decided to visit a holy place called Mahakaleshwar. It is a temple where Lord Shiva is worshipped and is considered one of India's most pious places.

What did you do at that place?

Mahakaleshwar is situated in Ujjain, a city near Indore in Madhya Pradesh. The two famous places in the city are the temple and the Ram Ghat, which were built on the Shipra River. We planned to visit both places and return to our college.

Who did you go there with?

I went with three of my friends from my college campus. Although the trip was a surprise, we had been planning it for a very long time but could never execute it. Every time something happened, the trip got cancelled. In the end, we dropped the plan and left it as is.

Why did you go on that journey by car?

All of us had to book a car and travel through it because it was a last-minute decision, and everything fell into place. The plan was so sudden that we couldn’t book any tickets, and neither of the other public transport’s times aligned with our schedule. Ultimately, we made a decision to travel by car.

Conclusion

To conclude, I would say that travelling by car was sudden for us, but it turned out to be one of the best trips I have ever been on. None of us expected to have the amount of fun we had. After this trip, I realised that the car is a convenient option for travelling to a place as it provides us with freedom and ease. In addition, the car journey gave us the freedom to extend our trip and work according to our wishes.

IELTS Speaking Part 3- Follow-Up Questions

Question- How did this journey change your perspective on travelling?

Answer- I learned from the trip that the journey itself is important; not simply the destination, is what makes travel meaningful. It all comes down to your people and experiences along the road. Prior to this trip, my only concern was getting to my goal as soon as possible. Nevertheless, I've come to realise that the delightful trip is just as significant as the final goal.

Question- What other destinations would you like to travel by car?

Answer- I like travelling and can't wait to see all of India's stunning road-accessible locations. The Konkan Coast in Maharashtra, Goa, and the Leh-Ladakh area are a few of the places in India that are well-liked for lengthy vehicle trips. Exploring the Leh-Ladakh area, which is renowned for its stunning scenery, tranquil lakes, and distinctive cultural experiences, excites me especially.

Question- Do many families own private cars in India?

Answer- Yes, a large number of Indian households drive private vehicles. Due to rising disposable incomes and easier access to auto loans, the number of cars owned in India has been rising over time. Particularly in cities, cars have come to represent comfort and prestige for a large number of families. Public transportation is still frequently utilised, nevertheless, particularly in cities where parking can be difficult, and traffic congestion is a problem.

Question- Why do people like to have private cars?

Answer- Private vehicles are useful for a number of reasons, among which is convenience. Without the limitations of ride-sharing services or public transit timetables, we may drive at our own speed and on our own schedule when we possess a personal automobile.

Furthermore, owning a car gives us more flexibility and independence as it lets us go on spontaneous outings and explore new locations. With the option to adjust the music, temperature, and atmosphere throughout the vehicle, private automobiles can provide a more individualised and comfortable travel experience.
