The IELTS speaking exam is available for you to take either prior to or following the other sections. When assessing IELTS Speaking responses, four criteria are taken into account, i.e., your IELTS speaking score is determined by four factors: Range, Lexical Resources, Coherence and Grammatical Range and Accuracy, all on a scale from 0 to 9.
However, the IELTS speaking test has three sections, each lasting 11–14 minutes. Most students find that part 2 is the most difficult. In IELTS speaking part 2, you’ll be given a cue card topic on which you have to speak. After that, based on that similar topic, the examiner will ask certain questions in part 3.
Therefore, in this blog, we will discuss the sample responses to one of the popular IELTS speaking cue card topics: “Describe a crowded place you have visited.”

India is known for its bustling and densely populated areas, with historical sites, places of worship, train stations, public gardens and socialising more often.
Today, I'd like to discuss a popular shopping mall in Indore that is constantly crowded. It's called Golden Crown Mall and is located in the northern part of the city. This seven-story mall, built around 15 years ago, boasts two levels dedicated to parking. Inside, you'll find stores carrying major global brands, popular food joints, and a cinema. Weekends are the busiest times here, as folks flock in when they're free from work. It is a location where no one gets bored since there are so many things to do, such as playing games, watching films, dining at their favourite place, and so on.
My first visit to Golden Crown Mall was during the winters, when I was accompanied by my best friend. We had heard very good reviews about this place, with some claiming it as one of Asia's finest malls.
So we decided to visit that mall. Upon arriving, we were instantly captivated. The weekend vibe was electrifying, with everyone seemingly as thrilled as we were.
Also, there were Christmas sales with attractive discount offers at most of the stores, so we got some new things at excellent prices. We lost track of time, spending a good five hours exploring the offerings. Now, I am a frequent visitor to the mall and spend the majority of my shopping there.

Overall, the experience was thoroughly enjoyable. I look forward to revisiting the mall on a quieter day, to experience it without the bustling crowds.

I'm not a fan of crowded places, but avoiding them entirely is nearly impossible in a densely populated country like ours.
I've visited plenty of crowded spots, but none matched the chaos of Gandhi Nagar Station in the northern part of our capital city. I went there with two of my friends a few months ago. Ironically, we chose this station to escape crowds. But it turned out to be completely opposite.
Right after finishing our semester, I visited Gandhi Nagar Station in mid-June this year. It was meant to be a quick two-day trip with my friends, but we had yet to learn what we were in for.
We booked our train tickets online and arrived at the station well before our departure time on Sunday morning. However, as we approached the station, we were shocked to see a massive sea of people. But we had yet to learn that we would be dealing with such a massive crowd.
I'm not comfortable in large crowds, and this was beyond my tolerance level. Most trains on that day missed their schedules due to harsh weather conditions, so the crowd was massive compared to a normal day. For a minute, I considered abandoning our plans and heading home. But then my friends convinced me to stay. We had to tolerate the crowded platform for another three hours due to the delayed train. When it finally arrived, we hurriedly boarded and secured our seats.
Although this experience was unusual, I hope to avoid such overwhelming crowds in the future. Despite the challenges, we made the best of it and eventually reached our destination.

Amusement parks, also known as theme parks, are bustling spots filled with excitement and adventure. These parks offer various kinds of rides and attractions, making them ideal destinations for friends to have a blast. The mechanised thrill rides, including roller coasters and flat rides, draw people in. Additionally, there are plenty of kid-friendly attractions and water play areas, complete with wave pools and artificial waterfalls.
I visited the Sky Roller theme park, which is located near Thane, Mumbai. This expansive park is divided into three sections and boasts over 100 rides. Although the entry fee is around 2000 rupees, the park allows people to come here for a full day of fun. It is one of the favourite places to enjoy and spend time with people in Mumbai, especially youngsters.
After wrapping up college, I headed to Sky Roller Theme Park with my friends for a memorable day out. This park can accommodate up to 1500 people at once. It's relatively quiet on weekdays, but weekends are bustling with families and groups of friends.
My college buddies accompanied me, and it turned out to be a fantastic decision. It takes one full day to enjoy all of the rides. However, we skipped some due to fear. That day has become one of the most unforgettable days of our lives. We enjoyed the roller coaster the most, for which we were initially terrified.
Our day at Imagica was filled with joy and adventure. Despite the weekend crowd, the staff diligently maintained cleanliness by regularly sweeping and emptying trash cans. Inside the park, we had delicious meals at the food court, where service was surprisingly very good despite the large crowd.
While Imagica is undoubtedly crowded, its spacious layout creates an illusion of less congestion. Even if they keep it clean, we should prevent behaviours such as throwing trash in the walking lane or grass lane and throwing it away.

Question: What do you think is the most important thing about a public event?
Answer: Nowadays, the most crucial aspect of a public event is the safety of the attendees because things can quickly go wrong and lead to mishaps in large crowds. Organisers should also consider basic public utilities such as drinking water, hygienic washrooms, and so on. They should also have procedures in place for emergency circumstances such as a fire or accident.
Question: Do you like to go to crowded places?
Answer: I go to crowded locations like cafes and shopping malls whenever I feel like socialising with people. I receive a lot of positive vibes when I see many people smiling and having a good time at these places.
Question: Do you like places with large space?
Answer: Yes, I do like vast open places with some greenery around. We can conduct many activities on a huge scale, and we feel comfortable when we are in large areas. Therefore, living in a house with good space all around is always helpful, but it can be tough to maintain at times.
Question: Which place in your city seems crowded?
Answer: I live in Jaipur, which is known as the Pink city of India. It is famous for its historical monuments and forts, attracting many tourists from India and worldwide. Therefore, these places generally remain crowded.
Question: Which place do you prefer to visit, crowded or uncrowded?
Answer: It entirely depends on who would accompany me, my friends or family. I prefer to go to crowded places with friends because it gives us some enjoyment when we are together. But if I'm going with my family, I prefer an uncrowded place where I can spend some quality time.
Question: Why do some places get crowded? What makes people gather at one place?
Answer: It is mostly when people need to buy their items, they congregate in public places such as marketplaces and shopping malls. Some of them spend their time enjoying themselves and relaxing at public parks, shopping malls, and other public places. During the festival season, discount deals and offers draw them to the market to purchase things at a low cost.
